Between July 20 and July 23, the Ministry of Health has reported 58 new cases of dengue fever, bringing the total number of laboratory confirmed cases for 2024 to 450. This update follows the confirmation of four deaths due to dengue fever.
One of these fatalities was announced on July 20, the same day that Trinidad and Tobago mourned the loss of Quinton Gabriel, a 16-year-old from Robert Hill, Siparia. With the number of deaths remaining at four, the Ministry of Health is urging the public to remain vigilant.
It is important to note that dengue fever is transmitted through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito. Symptoms can appear within four to six days of being bitten and may include fever, headaches, joint pains, and nausea/vomiting.
