In a shocking turn of events, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his disappointment over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Moscow, calling it a “devastating blow to peace efforts.” This criticism comes on the heels of a Russian missile strike on a children’s hospital in Kyiv, which left dozens dead and scores injured.

Modi’s visit to Russia, his first since Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, showcased a warm camaraderie between the two leaders, with images of them hugging, chatting over tea, and enjoying a horse show. Despite the deadly attacks, Modi did not address the strikes during his visit, instead emphasizing the strong relations between India and Russia.

The missile bombardment targeted several Ukrainian cities, causing widespread destruction and claiming numerous lives, including children. The strike on Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt hospital, a vital medical center for children, left two dead and multiple injured.

Videos from the scene depicted volunteers frantically digging through rubble as smoke billowed from the hospital. Staff worked tirelessly to move children to safety, even as chaos and devastation surrounded them.

Meanwhile, as Modi expressed gratitude towards Putin for hosting him, the United States voiced concerns about India’s close ties with Russia. Despite calls for peace, India has abstained from condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, highlighting the delicate balance between global diplomacy and economic partnerships.

As the world grapples with the aftermath of the Russian attacks in Ukraine, US President Joe Biden prepares to host a NATO summit, where increased support for Kyiv is anticipated. Biden condemned the missile strikes as a “horrific reminder of Russia’s brutality,” urging the international community to stand with Ukraine in these challenging times.
