Energy Minister Stuart Young recently held a meeting with the Trinidad and Tobago representative of CAF – Development Bank of Latin America, Bernardo Requena, to discuss technical assistance and loan facilities available for energy projects in Trinidad and Tobago. The focus of the meeting was on green energy initiatives and strategies to reduce methane emissions.
According to a media release from the Ministry of Energy, the discussed energy projects are vital for strengthening energy security in Trinidad and Tobago, the wider Caribbean region, and potentially even Europe. CAF is a development bank that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for citizens in Latin America and the Caribbean.
On their website, CAF describes itself as the “green and blue bank,” emphasizing its commitment to supporting projects that protect the environment both on land and in the ocean. Through credit operations, non-refundable resources, and assistance in project structuring, the bank aims to promote sustainable development and regional integration.
In addition to providing financial support, CAF also offers advice to public and private-sector stakeholders and generates valuable information to inform public policies.
