West Indies facing a heavy innings defeat after day two of first Test against England at Lord’s Cricket Ground. The hosts rolled over WI for just 121 on day one and extended their lead to 250 runs by posting a total of 371 on day two. With WI currently at 79 for six, a miraculous fightback is needed on day three to avoid a huge innings defeat in James Anderson’s final Test match.

Debutant Jamie Smith shined with an innings of 70, along with fifties scored by Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Harry Brook. Jayden Seales and Gudakesh Motie impressed with the ball for WI, but Anderson reached a personal milestone of 6,000 runs and 200 wickets in Test cricket.

West Indies have struggled in their second innings, with only Alick Athanaze and Jason Holder reaching the 20-run mark. Anderson’s career haul reached 703 wickets as WI tried to hold on, but Atkinson’s short ball proved to be their downfall.

Heading into day three, West Indies will need their tail to step up if they hope to turn their fortunes around. Stay tuned for more updates as the Test match continues.
