Attorney Keron Ramkhalwhan of JurisX Chambers has recently filed a freedom of information request on behalf of blogger Vishal Persad, seeking information on alleged corrupt hiring practices at the Couva Tabaquite Talparo Regional Corporation (CTTRC). According to Ramkhalwhan, two whistleblowers have come forward with claims that individuals posing as CTTRC employees demanded payment in exchange for jobs.

The complaints from the whistleblowers were reportedly submitted to the corporation in September 2023. Despite this, no action has been taken by the corporation, leaving the whistleblowers feeling ignored and frustrated. Ramkhalwhan emphasized the need for external intervention in light of these allegations.

In addition to the hiring practices, Ramkhalwhan’s client has requested information on the CTTRC’s employment policies, the number of fixed-term contract employees from 2015-2024, and any processes bypassing competitive recruitment. The goal is to shed light on the allegations, expose potential corruption, and ensure accountability within the corporation.

Furthermore, due to the seriousness of the allegations, the information has been passed on to the police for further investigation. The CTTRC has been asked to respond to the FOIA request by August 5th. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
