Amaiya Yeates emerged victorious at the 2024 Tobago Heritage Personality competition, showcasing her talents and beating out six other competitors for the title. Reflecting on her win, Yeates expressed disbelief but also gratitude for the support she received throughout the competition. With her eye on making a positive impact in her community, Yeates plans to leverage her new platform as queen to introduce new ideas for Les Coteaux and Tobago.
Yeates attributed her success to her strong support system, particularly highlighting her mother and talent writer and director. The preparation leading up to the competition was grueling, with long, sleepless nights dedicated to rehearsals and gown fittings. Despite the exhaustion, Yeates found joy and fulfillment in the process, ultimately winning accolades for her best gown portrayal and the people’s choice award.
Looking ahead, Yeates is set on pursuing a master’s in marketing and a degree in special effects makeup. With a cash prize of $10,000 and a $25,000 scholarship, she is well on her way to achieving her academic goals. Her mother, a teacher and proud supporter, expressed overwhelming joy and pride at her daughter’s historic win in the competition.
In second place was Klavier Simpson, who also showcased her talents by winning Best Talent and Miss Intelligent. Kina McMillan of Betsy’s Hope secured the third spot and the title of Miss Photogenic, with her gown designed by Shakeil Jones taking home the award for best design. Senika Ceasar of Concordia/Mason Hall was named Miss Amity, rounding out the group of talented participants in this year’s competition.
