The highly anticipated Hellblade II made waves as a big exclusive for 2024 upon its release in May, but sales numbers have been kept under wraps – until now. Thanks to Circana’s latest data analysis, we finally have some insight into its performance.
According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, Hellblade II ranked 37th in overall full dollar sales for May 2024, landing at 21st place among Xbox Series consoles. It’s worth noting that Hellblade II did not have a physical release.
Despite the lack of physical copies, Hellblade II made a splash on Xbox Game Pass at launch, ranking 12th in monthly active users on Xbox. This put it just behind Fallout 76 but ahead of other popular titles like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Apex Legends, and Forza Horizon 5.
Piscatella took to Twitter to share this sales info since Hellblade II didn’t make it onto major sales charts. Xbox and Ninja Theory have been tight-lipped about the game’s performance since its release, leaving fans speculating based on Steam concurrents and other data. According to Gamesindustry.biz’s Chris Dring, Hellblade II failed to crack the Top 100 on European sales charts during what he called a “brutal month” for game sales.
Following the success of its predecessor, Hellblade II was hailed as a groundbreaking moment in real-time visuals and storytelling. Critics praised its cinematic spectacle and captivating narrative, making it a must-play for fans of the action-adventure genre.
