A joint police operation resulted in the arrest of three men on July 25 for stealing a car in the Southern District the day before. The suspects, who hail from Sixth Company Village and Indian Walk in Moruga, are set to face a Princes Town magistrate once they are charged with the crime.
The incident began when the owner of a white Tiida car from George Village in Tableland parked and locked her vehicle in an open garage next to her residence at around 6:30 pm on July 23. The following morning at 8 am, she discovered the car missing and promptly reported it stolen to Tableland police.
Authorities spotted the stolen car in the Princes Town area on July 24, occupied by three men and sporting a fake number plate. An all-points bulletin was issued, leading to the interception of the vehicle by acting Cpl Ali and PC Rebeiro of the Princes Town municipal police station. Additional support was provided by regular police officers from Area East in the Southern Division, including W/Sgt Chance, officers from Ste Madeliene police station, Princes Town police, Southern Division Task Force, and traffic wardens participating in a traffic exercise.
Upon searching the car, police discovered the genuine number plate inside. The suspects were swiftly apprehended and transported to the Princes Town police station, while officers from Tableland continue to investigate the case.
