Coldplay’s recent set at Glastonbury 2024 may have broken records, but fans couldn’t help but notice Chris Martin’s surprising accent change during the performance. Social media was abuzz with comments about Martin’s new accent, with one user comparing it to a “crap 1970’s TV detective” and another questioning if he had attended the “Alex Turner school of what the fuck is that accent.”

Even NME’s glowing four-star review of the set mentioned Martin’s unique accent, quoting him as calling Glastonbury “the best city in the world.” The band was joined on stage by a star-studded lineup of guests, including a surprise appearance by actor Michael J. Fox, which drew massive reactions on social media.

The question remains: will Coldplay continue to make history at Glastonbury in the future? The band has hinted at a potential end to their music-making journey in 2025, with their 10th album ‘Moon Music’ set to release in October. As the festival continues, performances from artists like SZA, Shania Twain, and Janelle Monae are still to come.

Stay tuned to NME for the latest news, reviews, and updates from Glastonbury 2024 and follow the live blog for all the action as it happens. The festival is in full swing, and the surprises keep on coming!
