Thirty officers from Trinidad and Tobago law enforcement agencies are set to enhance their skills in intelligence collection and analysis through specialized training provided by members of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) International Training Team and the US Embassy’s DEA Port of Spain Country Office.
The training, scheduled to take place at the TT Prisons training compound from July 8-12, will cover various topics including global drug trafficking trends, intelligence techniques, telecommunications, document exploitation, basic first aid, interview skills, and critical thinking. Officers from the police service, transnational organized crime unit (TOCU), special investigations unit, customs, coast guard, and prison service will all benefit from this comprehensive program delivered by the Washington, DC-based training team.
Expressing her pride in the DEA initiative, Ambassador Candace Bond highlighted the importance of professionalism and integrity in intelligence gathering for securing convictions and improving citizen security. Collaboration between the US and Trinidad and Tobago law enforcement agencies, such as this training, plays a vital role in enhancing efforts to combat crime and violence and create a safer environment for all.
