The Tennis Association of Trinidad and Tobago (TennisTT) is gearing up for an action-packed seven weeks of tennis excitement with the upcoming third edition of the Summer of Tennis. From July 12 to August 31, local, regional, and international players will compete for top honors in a series of tournaments.

The Summer of Tennis was officially launched at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua on July 5, which will serve as the venue for the nine regional tournaments. TennisTT president Hayden Mitchell envisions Trinidad and Tobago becoming the hub for tennis in the Caribbean, providing a platform for young talents in the region to showcase their skills.

With a focus on development and exposure, Mitchell emphasized the importance of hosting tournaments at all levels to benefit the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Players participating in the Summer of Tennis will have the opportunity to earn regional and international points and secure promotions in their respective competitions.

According to Jermille Danclar, TennisTT’s executive director, the events align with the national sports policy and the national sports Caribbean policy, promising an exciting lineup of competitions. From the SR4 under-12 Development Team Championship to the Davis Cup Group IV tournament and the Billie Jean King Cup, players will have a chance to shine on the international stage.

Top talents like Kale Dalla Costa and Jordane Dookie will lead the Trinidad and Tobago team, hoping to secure valuable ranking points against tough competition from countries such as Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, and the US Virgin Islands. The tournaments will also be live-streamed on TTT and TennisTT’s YouTube channel for fans to catch all the action.

From ITF under-18 to the Masters Summer Bowl and Carnival Cup, the Summer of Tennis promises a thrilling conclusion to the series. All game days will begin at 10 am, and admission is free to the public, ensuring that tennis enthusiasts can enjoy the matches up close.

With the support of key figures such as the Sport Company of TT CEO and the director of physical education and sport at the Ministry of Sport and Community Development, the Summer of Tennis is set to be a showcase of talent, competition, and excitement in Trinidad and Tobago.
