Arima: The Borough in Need of a Revamp
Residents of Arima wake up each day to face a borough plagued by issues ranging from water shortages and power outages to inconsistent garbage collection. The troubles don’t stop there – the main road construction project on O’Meara Road has ground to a halt, leaving traffic in chaos and businesses suffering without adequate parking.
Law enforcement and emergency services are also struggling in Arima. The police station is in disarray, with frequent changes in leadership hindering community relations. The fire station often lacks vehicles for essential site visits, relying on headquarters to send assistance. Even basic services like WASA have been relocated out of high-traffic areas.
The town itself is in shambles, with the Arima Town Hall closed for repairs and numerous empty commercial spaces dotting the landscape. Crime rates are high, leading to a lack of nightlife and a sense of apathy among residents.
The challenges facing Arima are clear, and the call for change is growing louder. With municipal elections on the horizon, residents are looking for a new political party to bring new life to their forgotten borough.
