Ah, the dreaded Pap smear – right up there with eating cauliflower and going to the dentist on the list of things we’d rather not do. But hey, it’s a necessary evil, with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommending it every three years for most patients to catch any pesky cervical cell changes before they turn cancerous.
Good news, though: thanks to these screenings, cervical cancer cases and deaths in the US have dropped by half over the past 30 years. So, while it may not be the most enjoyable experience, it’s definitely important.
