Beloved entertainment journalist, Sam Rubin, tragically passed away after suffering a fatal heart attack in May, as revealed in a recent coroner’s report. The 64-year-old Hollywood reporter’s cause of death was determined to be ischemic heart disease due to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, a deadly condition characterized by a lack of blood and oxygen flow to the heart, is a leading cause of death globally. With approximately 126 million people affected by this disease worldwide, nine million deaths are attributed to it, with men being more commonly affected than women.
Rubin, a longtime KTLA personality and founding member of the Broadcast Film Critics’ Association, had an illustrious career in entertainment journalism. He joined KTLA in 1991, serving as the outlet’s weekday entertainment anchor for over three decades. Throughout his career, Rubin received numerous accolades, including the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Impact Award for outstanding integrity in broadcast journalism.
In addition to his television work, Rubin also authored two biographies, one on Jackie Onassis and another on Mia Farrow. His final appearance on the show was on May 9, where he interviewed actress Jane Seymour. The following day, on May 10, Rubin tragically passed away after seeking medical attention for stomach pains.
Despite his sudden and devastating loss, Rubin leaves behind his wife, Leslie, and their four children. His impact on the world of entertainment journalism and his contributions to the industry will always be remembered fondly.
