A 52-year-old Special Reserve Police officer accused of committing sexual offenses against a minor was granted bail totalling $185,000 by a Master of the High Court on July 22nd.
According to a police release, PC Kenneth Hazel, previously assigned to the Eastern Division’s Community Oriented Policing Section, appeared before Master Shabiki Cazabon facing one count of sexual touching and five counts of sexual penetration involving a minor.
As part of his bail conditions, Hazel must immediately relocate to the Toco district, maintain a distance of at least 50 feet from the victim, and refrain from any direct or indirect contact with the victim. A status hearing is scheduled for May 15, 2025, with the sufficiency hearing set for June 19, 2025.
The alleged sexual offenses took place between May 2022 and July 2022, with additional allegations of sexual intercourse occurring five times between January 2, 2024, and July 4, 2024.
An initial report was made to the police on July 11, leading to Hazel’s arrest on July 15. The investigations were overseen by Insps Ramkaran and Hosein from the Special Victims Department, with the charges officially laid on July 19 by Cpl Hazzard of the Eastern Division Child Protection Unit.
