South Africa has announced its 16-man squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies, set to kick off on August 7 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. Led by skipper Temba Bavuma, the team features experienced players like Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, and top-order batsman Aiden Markram.

The Proteas, fresh off their runner-up finish at the ICC Twenty/20 World Cup, are seeking to continue their success from their last Test series against the Windies. During their last meeting, South Africa secured a comfortable 2-0 series win on home soil. Markram, who was named Player of the Series, led the charge with 276 runs in four innings.

Despite missing World Cup players Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje, the Proteas will rely on Rabada to lead the bowling attack against the eighth-ranked West Indies. South Africa coach Shukri Conrad expressed excitement for the return to Test cricket following a busy period of limited-overs matches.

The second Test between the two teams is scheduled to take place on August 15 in Guyana. Meanwhile, a 15-man West Indies squad is currently in England for a three-match Test series starting at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
