Shannen Doherty had some heartwarming words for her onscreen sister and former “Charmed” co-star, Alyssa Milano, before her tragic passing. In a poignant episode of the “The House of Halliwell” podcast released just this Tuesday, Doherty, known for her role as Prue Halliwell, talked about the show’s early days and the transition from Lori Rom to Milano as the third Halliwell sister, Phoebe.
“Lori and Alyssa are very, very, very different people,” Doherty shared during the podcast. “So, Lori’s performance was different than Alyssa’s. Lori was a lot like Holly and I in the sense of [being] very grounded in drama. The presentation was much more serious, and it was way darker, which was my style. So, I loved the presentation, and I thought everybody was great.”
Doherty also acknowledged Milano’s impact on the show, saying, “When Alyssa came in, it provided a levity that I think the show ended up needing. She came in and she did a great job. And yeah, just brought a slightly different flavor to the show.”
These heartfelt words from Doherty come in the wake of past drama between her, Milano, and their former co-star, Holly Marie Combs. Combs claimed in a previous podcast that Milano was responsible for Doherty’s exit from the show, a rumor that Milano vehemently denied.
After Doherty’s passing on July 13 at just 53 years old, Milano shared her condolences, recognizing the complexity of her relationship with Doherty. “It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship,” Milano expressed to Page Six. “But at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of.”
Doherty’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her fans and co-stars, leaving behind a remarkable impact on the world of entertainment.
