Senior Tobago police officer urges public to report misconduct by police officers

In a recent interview on the Tobago Updates morning show, SNR SUPT Rodhill Kirk emphasized the Tobago Division’s commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance stance towards any errant police officer engaging in misconduct. Kirk, accompanied by Junior Benjamin, DCP, Operations, expressed the importance of building trust and confidence among citizens in communities and within the police force.

Kirk acknowledged that certain police officers have tarnished the image of the police service and reassured the public that those found guilty will face prosecution. He encouraged members of the public with information on such officers to come forward, emphasizing the urgency of addressing any issues that may arise.

With Tobago experiencing a shift in its demographic landscape, Kirk highlighted the need for increased awareness and vigilance within the community. He commended the public for their positive response to town meetings hosted by the division, noting an improvement in the relationship between the public and the TTPS.

While emphasizing the ongoing efforts to restore public trust and confidence, Kirk mentioned the training initiatives being provided to Tobago officers by various arms of the police force. He expressed optimism about the progress being made and emphasized the importance of continued public-awareness outreach throughout the communities on the island.
