Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson recently opened up about the struggles of being married to Saturday Night Live comedian Colin Jost. During a visit to The Kelly Clarkson Show, Johansson revealed that she often “blacks out” during the annual joke swap segment between Jost and his cohost Michael Che.
The segment involves Che and Jost reading jokes written for them by each other, with Che trying to push Jost into reading offensive jokes that sometimes mention Johansson. In a previous incident, Jost was tricked into making a joke about OpenAI’s voice feature stealing Johansson’s voice, to which Johansson described as “brutal” and “painful.”
Johansson joked that the experience was so traumatizing that she and Jost might need to go into witness protection afterwards. Clarkson also chimed in, commenting on the tame nature of the jokes given the daytime television setting.
Despite the humor, Johansson admitted that she often feels targeted during the segment and that each year it only seems to get worse. Describing the experience as “terrible,” she added, “I really do — I actually don’t remember that segment. I fully blacked out.”
With Jost’s knack for pushing the boundaries with his jokes and Che’s attempts at getting a rise out of his cohost, it seems like Scarlett Johansson will have to brace herself for more cringe-worthy moments in the future.
