Players Voice Frustrations Over Long PS5 Matchmaking Times as Concord Struggles for Attention

In the crowded world of live service shooters, the launch of Sony’s highly-anticipated title, Concord, has already begun to stir the pot—and not in the way developers had hoped. As players dive into this new 5v5 action-packed experience, a wave of discontent is washing over the community, primarily due to painfully long matchmaking times on the PS5.

With excitement buzzing leading up to its release, gamers had high hopes for Concord. Unfortunately, the reality has fallen short, prompting players to take to social media and online forums to air their grievances. Reports indicate that many are left waiting in virtual lobbies for stretches that feel like eternity, all while the game’s player count dwindles.

Things are not looking bright on the Steam front either, where Concord has only managed to attract a meager 697 concurrent players since its debut. This figure is a stark reminder of the challenges facing not only this title but also the wider live service genre, which frequently grapples with maintaining player engagement.

Despite the lukewarm reception of Concord, it’s worth noting that PlayStation is having a banner year overall, with several other titles raking in accolades and drawing massive player bases. Yet, the concerns surrounding Concord’s matchmaking woes highlight the critical importance of addressing community concerns—even as the gaming giant continues to find success elsewhere.

For now, the developers need to recalibrate their approach, listening to player feedback and innovating quickly to improve the experience in order to breathe life back into Concord. After all, in the fast-paced gaming world, the first impression can often dictate a game’s longevity and success.

As gamers gear up for another round of 5v5 action, their patience is running thin. Will Concord rise to the occasion, or will it fade into the shadows of the gaming landscape? Only time will tell.
