The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) is currently investigating municipal police officers from three corporations following anonymous reports of serious misconduct and criminal activity. The officers in question are stationed at the Port of Spain City police station as well as the Siparia and Point Fortin borough stations.

Deputy director of the PCA, Michelle Solomon-Baksh, has confirmed that an investigation into these troubling allegations has been launched. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is urged to contact the PCA, with assurance that all information received will be protected and kept confidential under the PCA Act.

Both police and representatives from the corporations in question expressed shock and disbelief upon being informed of the allegations and ongoing probe. Doodnath Mayhroo, chairman of the Siparia Borough Corporation, stated that this was the first he had heard of these reports and investigation.

According to Mayhroo, senior police officials were also unaware of any such issues involving the officers under investigation. Similarly, Deputy Mayor Kwesi Thomas of Point Fortin claimed to have no knowledge of the allegations or the probe, citing being in a meeting as the reason for the lack of information.

Contacted police officers within the three corporations revealed that they only learned of the allegations and investigation through the PCA’s media release. Calls to the city corporation for comments on the matter remained unanswered.

The PCA is actively encouraging individuals with relevant information to come forward by reaching out to the authority via phone at 226-4722, emailing info@pca.org.tt, or visiting their offices located at Level 24, Tower D, International Waterfront Centre, 1A Wrightson Road in Port of Spain.
