Attention BioShock fans, get ready to dive back into a fantastical new world! An image supposedly from the next mainline BioShock game has surfaced online, but don’t get too excited just yet. The image, obtained by MP1ST from a visual effects artist working for 2K, shows a snapshot of an early demo build of the game. While it features the familiar first-person perspective and a ‘Ricochet Shotgun’, it’s important to note that this footage is from 2021 and may not reflect the final product.
Interestingly, the image showcases BioShock-style plasmid powers in icon form, hinting at potential gameplay mechanics involving electricity bolts and time manipulation. The character is seen facing a mysterious burning orb atop a pedestal with the codename ‘Parkside’ displayed, aligning with previous leaks and reports on the game’s development.
2K officially announced the BioShock sequel back in 2019, revealing that it’s being developed by Cloud Chamber. While details are scarce, we do know that the game will not revisit the iconic settings of Rapture or Columbia. Additionally, original BioShock mastermind Ken Levine is not involved in the project, instead focusing on his new venture, Ghost Story Games.
