Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Stuart Young recently held a meeting with Woodside Energy’s top executives to discuss ongoing collaboration and partnership. The meeting, which took place on July 26, saw Young engaging with incoming executive vice president Daniel Kalms, as well as the current executive vice president, Shiva McMahon. Woodside’s country manager Kellyanne Lochan and corporate affairs manager Dr. Carla Noel-Mendez were also present during the discussions.

Kalms took the opportunity to commend Young for his proactive approach to engaging with the industry and its resources. The executives also praised Young for the recent signing of the Cocuina licence, highlighting the importance of this agreement. Kalms provided insights into the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Woodside Energy, emphasizing the recent acquisition of Tellurian and Driftwood LNG.

During the meeting, Kalms expressed Woodside’s commitment to expanding its international business, citing the potential benefits for the deep-water Calypso Project and market opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago. He noted the country’s existing infrastructure and strategic location as key advantages for LNG routes.

In response, Young reiterated Trinidad and Tobago’s dedication to meeting global energy demand and emphasized the importance of collaboration with stakeholders across the natural gas value chain. The meeting underscored the ongoing partnership between the government and Woodside Energy in advancing energy initiatives and fostering growth in the sector.
