Tragic news hit Claxton Bay as the man who was shot and wounded in his van on July 3 has sadly passed away. Suresh Baboolal, the victim, died around 11:45 pm during emergency treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital, according to police reports.
The shooting took place at Fifth Street in Pranz Gardens at approximately 8:30 pm when Baboolal was in his white Kia K2700 van. Gunmen approached and fired shots at him, causing critical injuries.
Authorities from Central Division and Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region III quickly responded to the scene, where they collected evidence to aid their investigation. As of now, the police have not determined a motive for the attack.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre in St. James to further understand the extent of the injuries and determine the cause of death. Investigations into the incident are ongoing as law enforcement officers work to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
