Get ready tech enthusiasts, because Google is gearing up to launch not one, not two, but four new Pixel 9 smartphones on August 13th. Today, we were treated to a detailed leak about the cameras on these devices, courtesy of Android Authority.
The leak spilled the beans on the sensors and lenses that will be featured on the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 XL, and even the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. While the primary sensor remains the same as in the Pixel 8 series, there are some major upgrades in store for the cameras on all four devices.
Notably, the Pro duo will sport a 50 MP IMX858 sensor from either Sony or Samsung, both front and back. Say goodbye to the old IMX386 responsible for ultra-wide-angle shots, as this upgrade promises a bump in image resolution and size.
Interestingly, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL will come equipped with a new telephoto sensor, while the Fold will stick with the older sensor due to space constraints. Could this be because the foldable design of the Fold leaves no room for a larger sensor? Seems like Google had to make some tough choices.
And if you’ve been itching for 8K video recordings, your wish may soon be granted. With the Tensor G3 chipset and Samsung GNK sensor on board, Google might finally enable 8K video recording capabilities on these new devices.
Don’t plan on these new Pixel 9 phones being budget-friendly, as prices are expected to rise in Europe compared to last year’s models. With four more weeks until the official launch, we can only keep our eyes peeled for more juicy leaks. Stay tuned!
