Asia’s wealthiest man is hosting a wedding extravaganza for his son that has everyone talking and scrolling through their social media feeds. Anant Ambani, 29, tied the knot with Radhika Merchant, 29, in a star-studded affair in Mumbai over the weekend. But the celebrations have been ongoing for quite some time, with a guest list that reads like a who’s who of the rich and famous, from pop stars to politicians to tech moguls and Bollywood icons.

Who is behind this lavish event? None other than Mukesh Ambani, the 9th richest person in the world and Asia’s richest man as per Forbes’ 2024 list. The pre-wedding festivities began back in March, featuring performances by Rihanna and Justin Bieber, setting social media abuzz.

From Bill Gates to Ivanka Trump, from Shah Rukh Khan to Kim Kardashian, the guest list is nothing short of spectacular. And with Justin Bieber serenading the guests, the wedding itself was a star-studded affair at the Ambani-owned Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

But not everyone is thrilled about the event. Some citizens of Mumbai have voiced their frustration over the traffic restrictions and chaos caused by the wedding festivities. Meanwhile, critics have called the event ostentatious and a display of wealth inequality in the country.

Despite the controversies, the Ambani family has also organized charitable events as part of the celebrations, including feasts for the underprivileged and funding a mass wedding for more than 50 couples in need. Love it or hate it, this wedding has certainly made its mark on Mumbai and beyond.
