England regained control on day three of the second Test at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on July 20, finishing the day with a lead of 207 runs. The day started with the West Indies batsmen impressively reaching a total of 457 all out, taking a 41-run lead over England’s first innings score of 416.

Pacer Chris Woakes played a crucial role in England’s strong comeback, taking four wickets to restrict the Windies to 389 for nine. However, an exceptional performance by Joshua Da Silva (82 not out) and Shamar Joseph’s entertaining 33 off 27 balls pushed the West Indies past England’s first innings total.

After a shaky start in their second innings with the early dismissal of Zak Crawley, England quickly regained control with Ben Duckett (76) and Ollie Pope (51) putting together a solid 119-run partnership. Despite a brief setback with the dismissal of Duckett and Pope, Joe Root (37 not out) and Harry Brook (71 not out) steadied the ship, ending the day with an ominous-looking 108-run stand for the fourth wicket.

As England heads into day four with a significant lead, they will aim to maintain their momentum and secure a victory in this crucial Test match and the three-match series.
