Israeli Hostage Rescued from Hamas Reveals Horrific Torture Endured
Andrey Kozlov, a 27-year-old security guard, has shared the harrowing details of the eight months he spent in captivity after being captured by Hamas at the Nova music festival. In an interview with CNN, Kozlov recounted the terrifying moment when he saw a car full of armed individuals in green, signaling the beginning of his nightmare.
Upon being held captive, Kozlov was subjected to brutal treatment, including being shackled, covered in thick blankets in sweltering heat, and enduring psychological torture. One guard even showed him signs indicating plans to kill him and film it. The guard’s erratic behavior, such as switching from threats to expressions of love, left Kozlov feeling bewildered and terrified.
Despite facing unimaginable conditions, Kozlov and three other hostages were rescued by the Israeli Defense Forces on June 8 and safely evacuated to Israel. The doctor who treated them described the group as having endured a “harsh, harsh experience” with beatings and abuse being a daily occurrence.
For Kozlov, the day of his rescue felt like being the protagonist in an incredible film. He now considers it a second birthday, a day of newfound freedom and hope. Despite his own trauma, Kozlov’s thoughts are with the remaining hostages still in captivity. Over 230 Israelis and foreign nationals were kidnapped by Hamas on Oct. 7, with tragic outcomes for many.
Kozlov’s determination to bring the remaining hostages home drives him to urge Israeli officials to take immediate action. His focus remains on the well-being of those still suffering, refusing to speak of certain painful memories in order to protect others. Through it all, his mother’s unwavering support and love have been a source of strength as he navigates the complex emotions of surviving such a traumatic ordeal.
