The battle is on for TT’s men’s Under-19 cricketers as they face a tough challenge to avoid finishing at the bottom of the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 Two-Day Championship. In a nail-biting fifth-place playoff against Guyana, TT’s captain Olando James won the toss and chose to bowl first.

The Guyanese team put up a strong first-innings total of 249 all out, with Rampertab Ramnauth leading the charge with a patient innings of 79. Andrew Lim also played a crucial role with an aggressive knock of 53. Despite a good start with the ball, TT struggled to contain the Guyanese batsmen, but managed to pick up crucial wickets thanks to Abdul-Raheem Toppin, Orlando James, and Andrew Rambaran.

When it was TT’s turn to bat, the opening pair of Toppin and Kavir Boodoosingh faced a tricky period and ended the day at zero without loss after two overs. With the tournament’s format reduced to two days due to adverse weather conditions, every run and wicket becomes crucial in this tightly contested playoff.

Meanwhile, the final between Barbados and Jamaica is heating up at Arnos Vale Playing Field, with Barbados declaring their first innings at 200 for nine. Jamaica managed to reach 72 for two by the end of day one, setting the stage for an exciting finish in the championship. The scoreboard tells the story of intense competition and skills on display, making every match a must-watch event for cricket enthusiasts.
