Renowned director Francis Ford Coppola found himself at the center of controversy right before the world premiere of his film “Megalopolis” at the Cannes Film Festival. Reports emerged accusing the 85-year-old filmmaker of inappropriate behavior towards female cast and crew members during the filming of a provocative nightclub scene.
Eyewitnesses recounted how Coppola allegedly tried to kiss some of the topless and scantily clad female extras, with some even claiming he pulled a few onto his lap. Recently obtained videos seem to support these claims, shedding light on the unsettling incidents that took place behind the scenes of the highly anticipated movie.
Filmed at the Tabernacle concert hall in Atlanta, the scene reportedly featured around 150 to 200 individuals, some of whom were cleared for topless nudity. As Coppola directed the scene, he repeatedly approached the women, disrupting shots and causing discomfort among those present.
While the allegations are disturbing, the filmmaker’s camp has remained tight-lipped. Despite attempts to defend Coppola’s actions as an effort to establish the atmosphere of the scene, questions remain about his behavior and the lack of oversight on set due to his personal financing of the project.
As the release of “Megalopolis” approaches in September, the controversy surrounding Coppola’s conduct continues to cast a shadow over the film. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
