In a recent interview with British GQ, Emma Corrin spilled the beans about their experience preparing for Marvel’s “Deadpool and Wolverine” as the villainous Cassandra Nova. Surprisingly, Corrin’s request for a personal trainer was denied by the studio, who insisted that no physical transformation was necessary for the role.
Fans of the comic books will recognize Cassandra as the twisted twin sister of Charles Xavier, but how she fits into the upcoming film’s storyline remains a mystery. Corrin revealed that Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy drew inspiration from Quentin Tarantino’s Hans Landa for their vision of the character, aiming for a charming yet sinister presence.
Levy was so impressed by Corrin’s talent after seeing them in a stage production of “Orlando” that he immediately pursued them for the role. However, Corrin admitted to being a Marvel novice, expressing the need for a crash course in the intricate Marvel universe before diving into the role.
Despite their initial unfamiliarity with the Marvel world, Corrin expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of the phenomenon, especially in a film like “Deadpool” that pokes fun at itself. “Deadpool and Wolverine” hits theaters on July 26, and fans can catch Corrin’s full interview to learn more about their transformation into Cassandra Nova.
