Three men viciously attacked and robbed a 73-year-old pensioner in Barrackpore on June 19. The frightening incident occurred at daybreak when the victim innocently opened the door to his home on Rochard Douglas Road around 5:30 am.
Just 15 minutes later, the three assailants, one of whom brandished a gun, barged in and assaulted the elderly man. The gunman, described as five foot nine inches tall, of East Indian descent, medium-built, with a short beard and dark brown complexion, was part of the terrifying trio.
After striking the victim, the intruders tied his hands together and proceeded to ransack the top floor of the house. They managed to steal $11,000 in cash, along with a safe valued at $800 before fleeing the scene.
Despite the traumatic experience, the pensioner was able to contact the police for help. The Barrackpore police promptly arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, the three perpetrators were nowhere to be found.
The investigation into this heinous crime is being led by PC Silochan.
