The music world is mourning the loss of a true matriarch. Carol A. Bongiovi, mother of legendary rocker Jon Bon Jovi, passed away at the age of 83 on July 9.
In a touching statement to People, Jon Bon Jovi remembered his mother as a force to be reckoned with, whose spirit and can-do attitude shaped their entire family. He expressed how much she will be missed.
Carol Bongiovi was more than just a mother to a rock star. She was a trailblazer in her own right, founding her son’s fan club and running multiple businesses. A former member of the U.S. Marine Corps, she met her husband, John Bongiovi Sr., while in service.
After moving to New Jersey, Carol dedicated herself to nurturing her family and creating a loving home in Holmdel. She leaves behind a loving husband of 63 years, eight grandchildren, and her three sons and daughters-in-law.
Though her physical presence will be greatly missed, Carol Bongiovi’s legacy of strength, determination, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, Carol A. Bongiovi.
