Bain and Walker Victorious in Sagicor Senior Girls’ Doubles Championship

Makeda Bain and Shiloh Walker surprised everyone by defeating the top seeds, Christiana Hills and Naomi Mohammed, to take home the senior girls’ doubles title at the Sagicor Junior Tennis Tournament. The duo fought hard to secure a 7-5, 6-2 victory and clinch the championship.

Over in the boys’ side, the fourth-ranked team from Guyana, Denzel Luther and Gerald Scotland, triumphed over the second seeds, Deron Dumas and Daniel Rahaman, in a tense match that ended with a 6-1, 4-6, 10-3 win in the tiebreak.

In the boys’ U18 singles final, Jayden Mitchell emerged victorious, defeating Dumas with a score of 6-3, 6-0. While in the senior girls’ singles category, Lilly Mohammed battled Bain in a close match, resulting in a 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 victory for Mohammed.

Another standout player was Nathan De Nobrega from Guyana, who dominated the boys’ U14 singles final with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win over Denney Estava from St. Lucia. Nobrega then teamed up with Estava to defeat the TT pair Jack Brown and Christopher Khan in the boys’ U14 doubles final with a score of 6-3, 6-3.

Other final results included Kahenya Mukora winning the U12 singles title, and Samiyah Mohammed and Kehenya Mukora clinching the U12 doubles title. In the U18 singles category, Naomi Mohammed emerged victorious, while Ethan Primus won the U10 singles title. Cruz Thornton from Barbados took home the U12 singles title, with Eli Paty and Cruz Thornton winning the U12 doubles title.
