Security camera footage has become a crucial piece of evidence in the investigation into the disappearance of consultant and former teacher Komal Maharaj. Working closely with the police, Hunters Search and Rescue Team head Shamshudeen Ayub revealed that CCTV footage from Price Plaza has provided valuable insight into Maharaj’s last known whereabouts before he vanished on July 19.
Maharaj, a 40-year-old father of two, left his Felicity home around 11.30 am to visit the Scotiabank ATM at the mall. After withdrawing money at approximately 12.30 pm, he mentioned to his wife that he had plans to meet someone before returning home by 2 pm. Concern arose when calls and messages to his phone went unanswered, prompting relatives to discover his untouched blue Hyundai Ioniq parked at the mall.
While it remains unclear whether Maharaj was forcefully taken, authorities are treating his disappearance as a potential kidnapping due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the case. The public has rallied in support of the family, with social media flooded with messages of hope and solidarity.
In a statement released on July 20, Chaguanas West MP Dinesh Rambally urged the nation to join efforts in locating Maharaj, emphasizing the importance of sharing any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem. The community of Felicity has united in solidarity with Maharaj’s family during this distressful time.
Despite ongoing investigations, there is still uncertainty regarding Maharaj’s fate. Described as of East Indian descent, approximately five foot eight inches tall, and weighing 155 pounds, Maharaj was last seen wearing jeans, a red T-shirt, a grey long-sleeved hoodie, and black-and-white sneakers.
