It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of today’s world. With all the political drama and scandals dominating the headlines, it’s no wonder that important issues like water distribution, flood alleviation, and economic development tend to fall by the wayside.

Take, for example, the neglected catchment basin on South Quay. Once a crucial part of preventing flooding in the area, it now sits filled with debris, waiting for the next disaster to strike. It’s a glaring example of how short-sightedness and neglect can lead to unnecessary suffering.

But it’s not just physical infrastructure that’s being ignored. What about the future of our young graduates? Where are the opportunities for them to thrive and build a secure future? These questions seem to go unanswered as we get swept up in the political circus.

And speaking of politics, the options opposed to the PNM leave much to be desired. Can we ever find leaders who truly have the nation’s best interests at heart? Or will we continue to be at the mercy of financiers who only care about their own agendas?

It’s a harsh reality that without proper funding, political parties can lose sight of what truly matters – justice, morality, and the well-being of the people. We need someone with a strong moral compass to step up and invest in our nation’s future.

Perhaps it will take a storm of epic proportions to force us to come together and rebuild our nation. But as the saying goes, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.” Maybe in the face of adversity, we can find a way to unite and create a better tomorrow for Trinidad and Tobago.
