The Queen’s Park Savannah was transformed into a vibrant celebration of African culture on July 30 at the Lidj Yasu Omowale Emancipation Village. The event, dubbed Rhythm and Voices of Africa, showcased traditional dance, music, and performances in honor of the upcoming Emancipation Day on August 1.

Photographer Ayanna Kinsale captured the energetic spirit of the event through stunning images. Dancers from the Chaguanas Women and Youth Group graced the stage with a powerful traditional African dance, embodying pride and heritage. The Unified Cultural Beacon Group also mesmerized the audience with their captivating moves, adding to the cultural richness of the celebration.

The Second Freeport Sea Scouts brought their unique flair to the show, showcasing their talents in a mesmerizing performance. Even the youngest participants got in on the action, with a little boy from the Daffodils Cultural Group showing off his drumming skills with enthusiasm and skill.
