Are you ready for a seamless connection between your Android phone and Windows PC? Microsoft is on a mission to make that happen with the latest Windows 11 Insider update. Say goodbye to clunky add-on apps and hello to a direct, wireless link within File Explorer.
Now, all Windows 11 Insider users can easily access and manage files on their Android phones right from File Explorer. Delete, rename, move, or copy files between devices with just a few clicks.
To get in on the action, you’ll need an Android phone running version 11 or higher and the Link to Windows app beta version 1.24071 or above. Simply go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mobile Devices > Manage Devices to toggle the option to display your phone in File Explorer.
But wait, there’s more! Deleted files will go straight to your phone’s recycle bin and will be automatically removed after just five days (for now). Microsoft is working on smoothing out any kinks in phone syncing and PC recycle bin functions in future updates.
Ready to give feedback? Head to the Feedback Hub > Devices and Drivers > Linked Devices or use the Win + F shortcut. By the way, File Explorer isn’t your only option for sharing content between your Android phone and Windows PC.
