In the third and final Test match between West Indies and England, the maroon bowlers faced a tough day three in Birmingham as the hosts took control. After West Indies posted a first innings score of 282, England stumbled to 38/3 at the end of day two. But a strong batting performance from England’s middle and lower order saw them roar back to reach 376, taking a lead of 94 runs.
As West Indies began their second innings, they lost key batsmen Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie in the evening session, ending the day on 33/2, trailing England by 61 runs. England’s impressive batting display was led by Jamie Smith, Joe Root, Chris Woakes, and Ben Stokes, who all contributed significant runs.
Fast bowlers Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Shamar Joseph did their best to contain England’s batsmen, but West Indies will have to regroup for the fourth day of play. With two days remaining, West Indies will need to come back strong to turn the match in their favor. Stay tuned for the action as play resumes on July 28.
