Keith Scotland, the Member of Parliament for Port of Spain South, has recently been appointed as a minister in the Ministry of National Security in Trinidad and Tobago. This announcement came during a post-Cabinet media briefing on July 25th by the Prime Minister.
Scotland’s new role will see him taking charge of police matters within the Ministry of National Security. The Prime Minister, Dr. Rowley, emphasized that Scotland will be collaborating closely with the Minister to address issues specifically related to the police force in the country.
Despite calls for his resignation, Fitzgerald Hinds will continue in his role as the Minister of National Security. This decision comes at a crucial time as Trinidad and Tobago has already recorded 336 murders so far this year.
Additionally, it is worth noting that in June, Keith Scotland was elevated to the prestigious position of senior counsel or “silk” in recognition of his legal expertise and contributions.
