The West Indies’ under-19 women’s team clinched a thrilling five-run victory over the US team in a rain-affected T20 match, taking the lead in the five-match series. The game, reduced to 11 overs per side due to inclement weather, saw the young Windies women set a target of 72 runs for the visitors to chase.

Opening batter Asabi Callender shone with a game-high score of 33 runs, supported by Naijanni Cumberbatch, who contributed 26 runs. Despite early wickets falling, the Windies held their nerve as the US team mounted a challenge in the run chase. However, a superb final over by West Indies’ captain Samara Ramnath sealed the victory for the home team.

With the series now at 2-1 in favor of the West Indies, all eyes are set on the next game as Ramnath and her team aim to secure a series win. The match showcased a mix of exemplary performances, demonstrating the talent and determination of these young cricketers.
