The son of a Tabaquite pensioner, whose body was discovered in his home, is grieving over the senseless act of violence that has befallen his family. Latchmipersad Sookram, 73, was found lying face down on his bed with his hands behind his back at his home in Piparo Road. The house had been ransacked, indicating that robbery was the motive for the crime.
Rajindranath Sookram, the son of the deceased, described his father as a friendly and jolly man who worked as a cleaner at the Tabaquite Health Centre. The community members also shared their sentiments, depicting Latchmipersad Sookram as a peaceful man who was well-known in the village.
As the family awaits justice for this tragic loss, they express their doubts about the effectiveness of the criminal justice system. The grief and anger over the high levels of crime in the country are palpable, with Sookram lamenting, “Crime can’t stop, is just too much killing.”
With no arrests made yet, PC Bhola is leading the investigations into this case. As the family mourns their loss, they seek solace in the hope that justice will prevail amidst the prevalent crime in the nation.
