The Bocas Lit Fest is offering a unique opportunity for authors working on books for tween readers, aged nine to 12 years old, to learn how to truly captivate their audience. Award-winning authors Carol Mitchell and Danielle YC McClean, recipient of the 2022 Bocas Lit Fest Children’s Book Prize, will be leading a virtual three-session Tween Tales masterclass.

During these sessions, participants will gain insight into crafting engaging characters and plots specifically tailored for the nine to 12 age group. The focus will be on striking a balance between humor, emotion, and relevant themes that will resonate with young readers. This masterclass is designed for intermediate to advanced writers, with the goal of equipping them with the necessary tools and inspiration to create exceptional tween literature that connects with their target audience.

Interested writers can mark their calendars for August 9 and 16, from 5-7 pm, as well as August 23 from 5-8 pm, for these insightful sessions conducted via Zoom. Don’t miss this chance to enhance your skills and connect with fellow writers in the tween literature space!
