A man is set to appear before a San Fernando magistrate on July 22, facing charges of breaking into a woman’s home in Claxton Bay and making off with over $100,000 worth of items. The victim had locked her door and gone out around 10.30 am on July 17, only to return at 2 pm to find a window forced open. Among the missing items were electronics like laptops and a speaker box, as well as tools, jewelry, a cellphone, and other valuables amounting to a total of $100,303.
According to police reports, CCTV footage captured the man in the act of removing the stolen goods. Following a report to the St Margaret’s police station, officers launched an investigation led by Cpl Modeste, PC Meah, and WPC Ransome. It didn’t take long for them to track down the suspect, spotting him near Union Recreation Community Centre later that day. With Snr Supt Sooden at the helm, the officers apprehended and searched the man, discovering the two laptops in his possession.
The suspect was promptly arrested and transported to the police station. Over the weekend, PC Meah formally charged him with housebreaking and larceny.
