In a surprising turn of events, it seems Madonna might be making her way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not as an actress – as a director! After getting permission to use her iconic 1989 hit ‘Like a Prayer’ in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds shared that the Queen of Pop gave some valuable feedback that made it into the final cut.
Reynolds revealed on SiriusXM that meeting with Madonna was a surreal experience, with director Shawn Levy adding that it felt like they were meeting royalty. Madonna, known for directing films like Filth and Wisdom and W.E., gave a single note that significantly improved the sequence in question.
Levy explained that Madonna’s son being a Deadpool fan definitely worked in their favor when it came to securing the song for the movie. The collaboration resulted in a new recording session within 48 hours to implement Madonna’s feedback.
Fans can catch Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters on July 26, where Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will reprise their roles as the Marvel heroes. This long-awaited team-up was initially teased in a post-credits scene from Deadpool 2 in 2018.
With Madonna’s influence and expertise, it’s safe to say that Deadpool & Wolverine is shaping up to be a must-watch film for fans of the Marvel universe.
