Jereem Richards sprinted to victory in the men’s 200m event at the Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern event in Switzerland on July 16. The Trinidad and Tobago athlete, who is gearing up for the Paris Olympics, crossed the finish line in 20.19 seconds to claim the gold medal.
In a field of seven competitors, Zimbabwe’s Makanakaishe Charamba secured the silver with a time of 20.42s, while Uganda’s Tarsis Gracious Orogot snagged the bronze in 20.50s.
This win marked Richards’ second fastest time of the year over 200m, just shy of his 20.13s finish at the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica on June 1. The talented sprinter is part of the 17-athlete Trinidad and Tobago contingent heading to the Paris Games, where he will compete in the athletics category alongside his teammates from cycling and swimming.
