Six individuals were found dead in a central Bangkok luxury hotel, and initial autopsy results suggest cyanide poisoning may be the cause. Thai authorities suspect one person may have poisoned the others over a bad investment gone wrong.

The bodies were discovered at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, a bustling landmark hotel in the heart of the city. Security footage shows the last time the group was seen alive, receiving a food delivery in their room on Monday. No one entered or left the room after that, and the door was locked from the inside.

Inside the room, uneaten food and used teacups were found, with traces of cyanide detected in the cups and bottles. Autopsies revealed cyanide in the blood of all six individuals, ruling out blunt force trauma as a cause of death.

The victims were identified as two Vietnamese Americans and four Vietnamese nationals, ranging in age from 37 to 56. Police believe a motive for the poisoning could be related to a failed investment involving two of the victims. The case is considered personal and not a threat to tourists in the area.

While authorities believe one person was responsible for the deaths, the seventh individual listed on the hotel booking is not believed to be involved. The Vietnamese and United States embassies have been contacted, and the American FBI is assisting in the investigation.

The Grand Hyatt Erawan is a well-known hotel in Bangkok, home to the famous Erawan Shrine. The city has experienced tragedies in the past, including a 2015 bombing at the shrine. In 2023, a serial killer known as “Am Cyanide” terrorized Thailand by poisoning 15 people with cyanide, highlighting the dangers of such substances.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to uncover the full story behind this tragic event.
