A 30-year-old member of the Defence Force has been charged with causing the death of Kiss Baking Company driver Neil Ballai by dangerous driving on March 28. Central Division police issued instructions for the suspect to be charged with causing Ballai’s death by dangerous driving, as well as other related offenses such as dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and failing to render aid.
Ballai tragically lost his life while driving one of the company’s Isuzu trucks on the Solomon Hochoy Highway. His passenger, coworker Terrence Jagessar, sustained injuries in the accident. Dashcam footage captured the moment a black Hyundai Ioniq car rear-ended the truck, causing it to veer off the road and crash. The car involved in the accident did not stop at the scene.
Following the incident, the suspect turned himself in at the Freeport police station. Initially released without charges, further investigation led to the decision to press charges against the soldier. W/Clp Hernandez–Cobbler is leading the investigation into this tragic incident.
