Trinidad and Tobago is currently facing an adverse weather alert at a yellow level, as warned by the Met Office. The alert, issued on July 17, is expected to bring adverse weather conditions from 10 am to 4 pm in northeastern Tobago and northern Trinidad.

The Met Office explained that a band of convergence located to the east of Tobago is likely to be intensified by favorable atmospheric features, leading to widespread moderate to heavy showers along with occasional thunderstorms.

In addition to the heavy rainfall, the Met Office also cautioned about the possibility of landslides. Saturated soils in areas such as northeastern Tobago and northern Trinidad could further exacerbate this risk with the forecasted rainfall.

To stay safe, the Met Office advised individuals to closely monitor weather conditions and keep an eye on their surroundings for any signs of danger.

Meanwhile, the Office of Disaster Preparedness has reported instances of flooding in the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation, specifically in Lower Barrackpore near Sou Sou Lands, Debedial Road, and Scott’s Road.

For more information and updates, the Met Office recommends visiting their official website at www.metoffice.gov.tt or the Office of Disaster Preparedness at www.odpm.gov.tt.
