Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian has recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Despite showing no symptoms, the 41-year-old father of two received this unexpected news after doctors conducted a full-body scan.

In a surprising turn of events, Ohanian shared the news on Instagram, stating, “Wild. No symptoms, thankfully, but gonna treat. Good cholesterol is too low. Bad cholesterol is just OK. Gotta work on that. On the plus-side: 822 ng/dL total + 162 ng/dL free testosterone.”

Lyme disease, caused by borrelia bacteria typically transmitted through tick bites, can lead to early-stage symptoms such as headaches, joint pain, and fatigue. Although Ohanian was taken aback by the diagnosis, he remains positive, jokingly exclaiming, “Anyway, gonna grab some antibiotics — can’t keep me down, tick!”

Despite his lighthearted approach, Ohanian urged his followers to seek medical advice if they have any concerns about Lyme disease, emphasizing the importance of consulting a professional. With over 470,000 Americans diagnosed with Lyme disease each year, it’s crucial to address any health concerns promptly.

Joining a list of celebrities who have spoken openly about their struggles with Lyme disease, Ohanian is now navigating this unexpected journey alongside his wife, tennis legend Serena Williams. Just days after his health update, Ohanian walked the red carpet with Williams and their daughter Olympia at the 2024 ESPY Awards.

Williams, who served as host of the event, presented various awards, including the Pat Tillman Award for Service to Prince Harry. As Ohanian and Williams continue to navigate this new chapter, their resilience and positive outlook serve as a reminder to prioritize health and seek proper medical care when needed.
